INCOTEC CARGO has delivered Reactor Vessel for Novovoronezh NPP

15th July INCOTEC CARGO completed delivery of Reactor Vessel with its weight of 340 tons to the job site of Novovoronezh NPP -2.

Reactor Vessel produced by Izhorskiye Zavody was loaded on a barge on the Neva River berth in Saint Petersburg. Our Company has worked out inland waterways route for delivery to Novovoronezh. In total a barge went a distance of more than 3 800 kilometers via the Neva River, Lake Ladoga, Lake Onega, Volga–Baltic Canal, the Volga River and the Don River.
The final part of water transportation passed through the upper Don and turned to be the most difficult. Abnormal low water level (by 0.5 – 0.8 meters lower than the average) could have endangered on-time delivery. However our specialists took appropriate technical actions that helped to bridge over the difficulties and carry out transportation in compliance with all the requirements of industrial and environmental safety.
Discharge of Reactor (length more than 11 meters, width and height 5 meters) has been implemented on a berth specially built for such a cargo on the Don River in Novovoronezh by means of lifting frame. Self-Propelled Modular Transporters designed for heavyweight cargo were used for inland transportation. 15th July at 20:00 pm Reactor was delivered to the job site of Novovoronezh NPP -2.
Construction of Novovoronezh Nuclear Power Plant – 2 has begun 20th June 2007 within the frames of Development Programme of Nuclear Energy Industrial Complex of Russia in 2007-2012 and prospectively up to year 2015. New power units are being built using the first in Russia serial reactor of the AES-2006 type. Safety standards of these power units are in full compliance with the international requirements. It is planned to build the Plant in record-breaking time: the first power unit is supposed to be set in operation in 2012, the second – 2013. This construction is unique by the fact the for the last 15 years there were no any power units in Russia having been set in operation from “zero” cycle.
